Other cable can be any on of the recognized media

2 pair, 150 Ohm STPA
50 Ohm Coax, not recommended for new installations

Backbone

Cabling between equipment rooms, entrance facilities and telecommunications closet
Conventionally, vertical shaft cable; but also used in a Star Topology in a campus type network
